Let me ask and tell me,

When you’ve loved another true

Invested all your heart and soul

And did everything you could do…

Did you not leave some of your heart with them?

Romantic memories and good times when?

Times you laughed and cried together

Survived the storms to see sunny weather?

You left your heart behind, didn’t you?

You can say that “yes, but they are gone…”

You no longer dance or sing that song

You can say “that was years ago…”

But really…

Inside you know, this- is-not-so

You’ve left your heart behind…

With him…

With her…

You look back and it seems-a-blur,

But not really…

When in a moment you feel alone

Or just a memory of another home

You think of him…

You think of her…

Your heart still loves like it did back then

You can say that you’ve left it all behind,

That may be true but love is never blind

You like me and every one down through time,

Have lived and loved,

And left their hearts behind…
