When Hearts are Left Behind

 

Let me ask and tell me,

When you’ve loved another true

Invested all your heart and soul

And did everything you could do…

Did you not leave some of your heart with them?

Romantic memories and good times when?

Times you laughed and cried together

Survived the storms to see sunny weather?

You left your heart behind, didn’t you?

You can say that “yes, but they are gone…”

 

You no longer dance or sing that song

You can say “that was years ago…”

But really…

Inside you know, this- is-not-so

You’ve left your heart behind…

With him…

With her…

You look back and it seems-a-blur,

 

But not really…

 

When in a moment you feel alone

Or just a memory of another home

You think of him…

You think of her…

Your heart still loves like it did back then

You can say that you’ve left it all behind,

 

That may be true but love is never blind

You like me and every one down through time,

Have lived and loved,

And left their hearts behind…

Suspend

When you said it was the end
I could feel my breath suspend,

in mid air...

All my blood began to rush
As I felt my heart begin crush,

Like I was dying...
I could not stop myself from crying...

My eyes they stung from tears,
After loving you all these years...

My heart it hurt and it was aching...
My body trembled and it was shaking...

And really how am I suppose to feel?
When all of this is so unreal?

It's not true that relationships just end,
Not when we're lovers and best friends...

It's a myth...
And it's a lie,
Something we've been fed so we don't try,

To keeping on loving...
To keep on giving...
To work through this and go on living,

Together....

Walk away, after being intimate beyond compare?
Laughing-smiling with a passion that was rare,

Sharing a simple glass of wine,
Kissing like we owned-the-hands-of-time...

Late mornings rolling-in-the-sack,
Nothing ever-holding us both back...

A coffee shared,
A tender touch,
Have you ever felt so much...

Happiness?

But somehow we're at this station
Where it's good-bye, not elation

And now there's something's wrong,
No more music where's our song?

Distance-coldness instead-of-play
No more silly-things-to-say

How did it ever come to this?

It's not right...
I disagree,
We once loved and we were free...

And then,
In an instant
Came the danger
Now we're distant and we're both

Strangers...

Relationships they don't end,
They leave your heart forever in

Suspend...
Your soul and mine are walking lost,
Pretending like there's no cost

To what has happened...

Saying good-byes with social words
Pleasant smiles,
It's just absurd...

You're in my heart
and
I know that you still care,

But my heart I cannot repair..

Our relationship did not end,

We just left the best

of

Us...
